Design of seats and furnishing elements for the new Palace of Justice in Paris, designed by the architect Renzo Piano.
- Meeting Tables – The new courthouse in Paris has a decidedly cutting-edge aesthetic and a design leaning towards the future. The tables in the hearing rooms and lawyers’ rooms were made of Krion and oak. However, since they are large elements, it was necessary to develop an internal steel structure capable of supporting such a heavy product. The tables were divided into different basic elements and then assembled directly in the hearing rooms due to the inability of transporting them when already assembled. To succeed, a great deal of industrialization work was done with the suppliers of the product, both in the light carpentry part and in the Krion carpentry part.
- Seats – The seats of the Palace of Justice are characterized by elegance, lightness and aesthetic cleanliness. These are seats made of Krion slabs supported by ground and suspended metal structures. Beech seats have also been developed for some areas of the Palace. The seat project was divided into 5 different progression steps: primary design, mock-up production, post-mock-up executive design for customer approval, definitive engineering of the components and definition of all module variants. It was therefore important to carry forward the aesthetic and static development of the product while always observing the industrial component, which is fundamental on production batches of this magnitude. There was a particular need to create ground supports of different angles and developments capable of following the variations in inclination of the larger hearing rooms.
